Former Nav Mark Williams signs pro deal

Marietta College right-hander anf former North Shore Navigator Mark Williams has signed a contract with the Washington Wild Things of the Frontier League. The signing happened last week, and the member of last year’s title team is currently active for the Wild Things. Williams went 2-1 with a 4.45 ERA in 20 games for North Shore last season and is coming off a tremendous senior campaign with Marietta, which won the NCAA Division III National Championship.

Williams, a D3Baseball.com All-America second team, ABCA All-Mideast Region second team and All-OAC first team pick, went 8-1 with a 1.59 ERA this spring. He allowed 14 earned runs on 48 hits and struck out a team-high 97 over 79 innings in 20 appearances  (11 starts).

Williams went undrafted earlier this month in the MLB Draft, but has posted a 2.46 ERA in three appearances out of the bullpen for the Wild Things. To view his statistics on the Wild Things’ official website, click HERE.


Mark Williams named a D3baseball.com All-American

LYNN, MA — Former North Shore Navigators pitcher Mark Williams has been named to the D3baseball.com All-American Second Team. Williams, a junior at Marietta College, went 7-1 this spring with a 1.67 ERA for the Pioneers. The righthander had 84 strikeouts in 70 innings of work.

As a key member of the 2010 NECBL championship team, Williams went 2-1 with a 4.45 ERA in a team-high 20 appearances last summer.

With Marietta, Williams made the transition into the starting rotation this season after serving as a reliever for two years. The Pioneers were a unanimous selection for the No. 1 D-III team in the country in the final regular season rankings and enter the national tournament with a 34-3 record. They will take on Salisbury this afternoon in postseason play.
