Mark Williams named a All-American

LYNN, MA — Former North Shore Navigators pitcher Mark Williams has been named to the All-American Second Team. Williams, a junior at Marietta College, went 7-1 this spring with a 1.67 ERA for the Pioneers. The righthander had 84 strikeouts in 70 innings of work.

As a key member of the 2010 NECBL championship team, Williams went 2-1 with a 4.45 ERA in a team-high 20 appearances last summer.

With Marietta, Williams made the transition into the starting rotation this season after serving as a reliever for two years. The Pioneers were a unanimous selection for the No. 1 D-III team in the country in the final regular season rankings and enter the national tournament with a 34-3 record. They will take on Salisbury this afternoon in postseason play.
