The Game

The Navigators will take on the Vermont Mountaineers tonight for the first time this season. The two teams were rained out in Vermont on June 24, but that contest will be made up on Thursday. Vermont was off last night but defeated Danbury 5-2 on Sunday and currently owns the fourth and final potential playoff spot in the Western Division. The Navs are coming off a 6-4 loss last night at Newport.

Outfielder Dario Pizzano (Columbia) went 2-for-4 last night to raise his team-leading average to .365, which is good for fourth in the NECBL. The sophomore is also second in on-base percentage (.472), fourth in slugging (.554), tied for ninth in RBI (15), and tied for sixth in walks (14) while striking out just three times in 74 at-bats. He is hitting .386 (17-for-44) over his last 12 games with 10 RBI and eight runs scored.

NS – LHP Crayton Bare (1-1, 4.77 ERA)
VER – RHP Ryan Fasano (1-1, 5.19 ERA)
Lefthander Crayton Bare (Baylor) will make his fifth start of the season tonight for the Navigators. He received a no decision his last time out in a 5-3 win over Old Orchard, allowing just one run on two hits over five innings. Opposing him will be Mountaineers righty Ryan Fasano (Rutgers), a junior. Fasano has appeared in five games (three starts) for Vermont and got the win his last time out on July 5 in a 5-3 win over Keene. He allowed just two runs over six innings pitched in the victory and has a 2.70 ERA in his last four appearances, spanning 13.1 innings.
