Pregame: Mainers @ Navigators

The Game
The North Shore Navigators will take on the Sanford Mainers for the third time this season, as tonight marks the first matchup between the two teams at Fraser Field. The Mainers defeated North Shore 2-1 on June 15 and 5-1 on June 21, with both victories coming at Goodall Park in Sanford. Sanford was off last night but defeated Holyoke 3-2 on Wednesday night. The Navigators are a ½ game back of the Newport Gulls and a game back of Sanford entering tonight’s action. Newport has lost two in a tow and is off tonight, meaning a Navigators win will catapult them to the top of the Eastern standings in a tie with Sanford.

SAN – RHP AJ Bazdanes (1-0, 0.00)

The Nashua native was named the NECBL Pitcher of the Week two weeks back for his 7.2 scoreless inning performance against Laconia on June 17. He also struck out eight in that contest. Tonight marks his first start since then, although he also threw 1.2 scoreless innings in relief against Newport on June 25.
