The Game

The Navs take on the Keene SwampBats (5-3) tonight for the first time this season. Keene lost 5-2 last night in Newport, while North Shore was rained out each of the last three nights – twice at home against Holyoke and Sanford Wednesday and Thursday and on the road at Vermont last night. Wednesday’s rainout will be made up on July 13, and Thursday’s postponement will be played on August 1. Last night’s scheduled game with Vermont will be made up on July 14. The Navs are currently third in the Eastern Division, just a game back of Newport and a ½ game back of Sanford.

NS – RHP Dan Slania (0-0, 0.90)
KEE – RHP Nick Nuemann (0-0, 2.25)
6-foot-5 righthander Dan Slania, who is unscored upon in four appearances, will make his first start of the year for the Navs. The freshman posted a 2.35 ERA in 23 appearances – all out of the bullpen – for Notre Dame, and was a 42nd round pick of the Boston Red Sox out of high school in the 2010 MLB Draft. For the Swamp Bats, Nick Nuemann will make his second start of the season. He got a no decision back on June 10 in a 2-1 win at Holyoke, allowing just one run over four innings.
