The Florida Gators were up 3-1 on Vanderbilt with two outs in the bottom of the sixth before play was suspended due to weather in Game 6 of the College World Series in Omaha on Monday night. The contest will be resumed as is on Tuesday morning at 11AM.
Navigators infielder Cody Dent is the Gators starting third baseman and son of former New York Yankee Bucky Dent. His arrival with the Navs is obviously pushed back during Florida’s push for a national championship.
Eight other Navigators representing four different schools also advanced to the NCAA Tournament, but none of those teams advanced past Regionals.
Florida, on the other hand, burned through both the Regionals and Super Regionals before defeating Texas 8-4 in the team’s opening round CWS matchup on Saturday at Omaha. In that game, Dent doubled against Texas’ Taylor Jungmann, the No. 12 overall pick by the Milwaukee Brewers, to break a 3-3 tie in t he fourth inning for the first extra-base hit of his collegiate career.
