Dent, Gators take down Jungmann, Texas in CWS

Navigators infielder Cody Dent helped the Florida Gators defeat Texas 8-4 on Saturday on Day 1 of the 2011 NCAA College World Series in Omaha. Dent broke a 3-3 tie with a two-out RBI double in the fourth inning against Texas starter Taylor Jungmann, who was selected 12th overall in the first round by the Milwaukee Brewers earlier this month in the MLB Draft.

Dent, the son of former MLB All-Star Bucky Dent, will join the Navs current roster upon the completion of the Gators’ current run. Dent was a also member of last year’s Navigators championship team, and the sophomore has been the Gators’ starting third baseman over the last 14 games since May 20. Florida will take on Vanderbilt on Monday at 7 PM in the CWS winner’s bracket.
