Mike Dowd selected in 12th round of MLB Draft

Franklin Pierce junior catcher and former Navigator Mike Dowd was selected in the 12th round (363rd overall) by the Seattle Mariners of the MLB First-Year Draft on Tuesday. Dowd, a member of the 2009 Navigators, played in 30 games that season for North Shore and had 17 RBI as the Navs earned their first playoff berth in Lynn.

This season at FPU, Dowd hit .340 with three home runs and 37 RBI and was second on the team in hits (69) and tied for the team-lead in doubles (17). He struck out just 10 times in 202 at-bats on the year.
