The 2011 NCAA Regionals got underway on Friday as ‘The Road to Omaha’ began. Eight North Shore Navigators are currently participating while representing five different schools.
Kevin Pohle (Fr.) of Clemson threw two scoreless innings of relief in the Tigers’ 11-1 win over Sacred Heart. Second baseman Mike Dunster (Fr.) pinch hit and singled late in the game.
Florida’s Cody Dent (So.) continued to swing a hot bat for the Gators, going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a walk in a 17-3 blowout win over Manhattan.
Baylor held off California 6-4 in their matchup on Friday, although neither Crayton Bare (So.) or Miles Landry (So.) received work.
Oklahoma dropped a close 3-2 final as the Sooners were upset by Dallas Baptist. Sooners infielder Drew Dahlberg (Fr.) did not see any game action.
Oklahoma State was also upset, losing 9-2 to Troy State on Friday. Outfielder Saulyer Saxon (Fr.) did not see game action.
On Saturday, Oklahoma falls into the loser’s bracket to take on Oral Roberts (3:00 p.m.), as does Oklahoma State who will face Belmont (1:00 p.m.).
Florida takes on Miami (FL) at 4:00 p.m.; Clemson will host Coastal Carolina at 7:00 p.m.; and Baylor draws Rice at 7:00 p.m.
