LYNN, MA — Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) junior Dan Duval was named the Liberty League Pitcher of the Week earlier this week. He went 2-0 in two starts against Ripon College and UMass-Dartmouth, allowing just three earned runs over 12.2 innings.
Duval was also chosen as a conference First Team selection on Thursday for his efforts this spring. On the season, the Middleton native is 7-2 in 11 games (nine starts) and leads the team with a 2.07 ERA. Opponents are hitting just .238 against the righthander.
Duval pitched for the Navigators the last two seasons. He posted a 2.38 ERA in 2010 and received the victory in the Game 3 title-clinching victory over the Danbury Westerners in the NECBL Finals last August. He finished second on the team in appearances (19) and fourth in innings pitched (34.0).
