Mainers even series with Navs; Game 3 Wed. night

The Sanford Mainers broke open a tie game with four runs in the fourth inning in a 5-1 win over the North Shore Navigators last night to even their best-of-three series at one game apiece. The decisive Game 3 of the two teams’ Eastern Division semifinal match-up will take place tonight at Fraser Field at 6:15 p.m.

Daniel Patrick (3-1, 2.10) will get the start for the Navs tonight in the crucial third game, and he will oppose Sanford’s Michael Augliera (4-2, 2.85). The winner will advance to the Eastern Division finals against the Newport Gulls, who swept their playoff series against the Laconia Muskrats with a win last night.

Sanford took the lead in the fourth on an RBI single by Matt Marra to go up a run, but the big blow came when Bobby Doyon hit a three-run blast off Navigators’ starter Kevin Kyle for a 5-1 lead.

Kyle went six innings and allowed the five runs on four hits. He also walked three and struck out four. The Navs got their only run on a Cody Dent sac fly in the third inning.
We’d also like to extend our apologies to all blog viewers who expected a pre-game blog tonight. Internet connectivity was spotty tonight in Sanford and we were unable to get a post up. We hope to see you all at Fraser on Tuesday night!
