In Game 1 of their three-game playoff series, the North Shore Navigators have the upper hand as the higher seed and own home field advantage against the Sanford Mainers. But it has been the Mainers who have had the upper hand all throughout the regular season, going 5-1 against the Navigators in 2010.
North Shore dropped a 4-1 loss to Sanford on June 10 amidst their six-game losing streak to begin the season, and the Mainers defeated the Navs again four days later 7-2. The Navigators responded with a 7-2 win of their own on June 28, but Sanford beat North Shore three times in a seven-day span in late July to easily take the regular season series.
Overall, Sanford lost five of its last eight and finished four games back of the division lead while the Navs won three of their final four games to earn the No. 2 seed. Sanford went 14-7 at home and just 9-12 on the road, while the Navigators were 13-8 at home and a league-best 12-9 on the road.
