The Navigators defeated New Bedford 11-4 on Saturday on the road. North Shore improved to 8-8 while the Bay Sox fell to 6-9.
For the Navs, starter Michael Johnson got the win after allowing three runs over 5.2 innings, and Dylan Hochevar and Brandon Bargas combined for 3.1 innings of relief and allowed just a hit apiece to nail down the team’s eighth win in 10 games.
Eight of the nine Navs’ starters had a hit, led by second baseman Tyler Kuehl’s 3 for 5 night. Anthony Melchionda also added two hits and Matt Avery extended his hitting streak to eight games with a double. Bryce Tafelski, Dario Pizzano, and newcomer Garrett Smith (who started at shortstop) all scored two runs in the victory.
