Last night in Montpelier, Vermont, the Navigators (17-15) were defeated by the Mountaineers (19-12) by a 5-4 score. Both offenses scored three runs in the second, however it was Vermont that took the lead in the late innings following a two-run seventh. An eighth inning RBI double by Ben Waldrip would cut the Mountaineer lead to one, but that would be all the Navs could muster the rest of the way.
The loss is the Navs’ fourth in a row and it is their third straight one-run loss as well. After a successful June in which the Navs won 14 games, they are 3-10 in the month of July and are currently 5.5 games back of the first-place Newport Gulls.
