Breaking News: Navs Sign Ben Waldrip

The Navigators have signed 1B/P Ben Waldrip, a native of Medford, MA enjoying an extremely successful freshman campaign at Saint Anselm College.  Waldrip, standing at 6’6”, 245, hit .394 with a team-best three home runs and 27 RBI.  The Medford High School graduate was a high school football player and the captain of the Medford baseball team, earning him the Leadership Award along with the John and Abigail Adams Award.

Waldrip was named Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week on March 3 after batting .600 against Saint Leo with two doubles, six RBI, and three runs scored.  He followed that performance by earning Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week honors for a second consecutive week, batting .333 from March 3-March 9 with four doubles, four RBI, four runs, and three walks.  Waldrip also hurled seven shutout innings with four strikeouts against Bentley to pick up his first collegiate win on the mound.

Waldrip is originally from Arkansas, where his father maintains a business as a soy bean farmer.  Waldrip occasionally frequents Arkansas to aid his father with the harvest and make his own maple bats, which Ben uses during games.

…so i’m thinking there’s a reasonable chance we see the following at fraser shortly…
