Outfielder Dario Pizzano (Columbia) has been named to the 2011 NECBL First Team, it was announced on Tuesday by the NECBL commissioner’s office. Pizzano was also named the league’s Most Improved Player after hitting .365 (54-for-148) with four homers, 27 RBI, and 12 doubles this summer. He had previously hit .216 in 125 at-bats as a member of the 2010 NECBL-champion Navigators.

Outfielder Eric Jagielo (Notre Dame) and shortstop Clinton Harwick – both freshmen – were named to the NECBL Second Team to round the end-of-the-year awards among Navigators players. Jagielo hit .313 (51-for-163) with three home runs, 28 RBI and seven doubles in 2011, while Harwick hit .319 (45-for-141) with three homers and 12 RBI.

All three represented North Shore in this year’s NECBL All-Star Game at Fraser Field, with Pizzano and Jagielo both starting for the East.

The Navigators (22-20) finished the regular reason in second place in the NECBL’s Eastern Division but lost in the opening playoff round in a three-game set with the Sanford Mainers.

Nobody deserves more thanks than our media and broadcast teams for all of their hard work this season. Both of these groups dedicated hundreds of hours this summer, and the organization would not be where it is today without their help.

The media team was responsible for stadium music, official statistics, public address announcements and scoreboard operation for the team’s 26 home games at Fraser. Meanwhile, the broadcast team ran a four-camera operation for each and every home game while also managing switchboard maintenance, television graphics and audio adjustment.

In baseball, all good runs ultimately come to an end. For the North Shore Navigators, their run as league champions officially ended last night, falling 7-0 at the hands of the Sanford Mainers at Fraser Field in the decisive Game 3 of the two teams’ NECBL playoff series.

Despite all of last year’s championship memories, the North Shore offense quickly ran out of gas in a two-game span as they were shut out in back-to-back nights by the Mainers. The Navigators managed just 10 hits in the two combined games over 18 scoreless innings.

After getting blanked by Tommy Lawrence on Thursday in Maine, Sanford lefty Tripp Davis followed up with eight shutout innings against North Shore last night to lead the Mainers into the Eastern Division Finals against the Laconia Muskrats. Davis allowed just five hits and struck out five in the outing before Brendan Hourihan shut things down for Sanford in the ninth.

Meanwhile, right-hander Nolan Corr (Wheaton) got the start for the Navigators in the deciding third game, but was removed after just three innings of work. After looking stellar in a 1-2-3 first, Corr allowed a two-run single in the second to Paul Kronenfeld before Brett Mollenhauer’s double scored Marlon Calbi in the third to make it 3-0.

Dan Slania (Notre Dame) came on in relief of Corr and struck out the side in the fourth, but he allowed a pair to score in an inning later on a two-run base knock by Jack Lupo. Then in the seventh, All-Star reliever Matt Alvarez (Boston College) walked the No. 8 and No. 9 hitters before both scored on a single by Mollenhauer to all but put the game out of reach.

Oddly enough, four Navigators pitchers combined to strike out a season-high 15 batters, but Sanford capitalized with plenty of timely hitting in Games 2 and 3 of the series.

With one out in the sixth, the Navigators had a glimmer of hope when they loaded the bases down seven, but Davis induced to a 4-6-3 double play to Conner Mach (Missouri) to quickly kill the threat.

FINAL: Mainers 7, Navigators 0
Follow live updated statistics on Pointstreak

Bottom 9th
Brendan Hourihan on in relief of Davis.
Davis’ line: 8 IP, 0 R, 5 H, 5 K, 3 BB
Mach, Harrison and Boulter due up for the Navs. Mach strikes out swinging against Hourihan on three pitches. North Shore has a base runner as Harrison draws a walk. Fielder’s choice 3-6 to retire Harrison at second as the return throw from Calbi is wild, allowing Boulter to reach. But Holleran grounds out to third, ending a great season for the Navigators. Best of luck to the Sanford Mainers in the Eastern Division Finals.
0 runs, 0 hits, 0 errors, 1 left

Top 9th
Landry still on for North Shore. Calbi grounds one up the middle to the shortstop side of second base but Dent was unable to come up with the diving effort cleanly. 4-6-3 double play from Mollenhauer. Ground out to third ends the frame.
0 runs, 1 hit, 0 errors, 0 left

Bottom 8th
Navigators have the top of the lineup due up here in the eighth. Time is running out on their season. Davis gets Saxon to flail at a pitch off the plate for the strikeout to begin the frame. Harwick narrowly beats the throw at second for a double with one out then moves to third on a ground out to second by Jagielo. Pizzano also grounds out to second to end the inning in what was probably his final at-bat as a Navigator after two great summers with the ball club.
0 runs, 1 hit, 0 errors, 1 left

Top 8th
Miles Landry on in relief of Alvarez.
Alvarez’s line: 2 IP, 2 R, 1 H, 4 K, 2 BB.
Landry strikes out Kronenfeld to begin to eighth – the 14th strikeout of the night for the Navigators. Panetta then ground out back to the pitcher. Landry also gets Coppinger to go down swinging for K No. 15 on the night. Unfortunately, there have been seven runs on eights hits and four walks sprinkled in as well.
0 runs, 0 hits, 0 errors, o left

Bottom 7th
Davis still on here in the seventh. He’s thrown just 83 pitches through six innings. Harrison hits a squeaker down the first base line that Davis corrals and flips to first for the first out. Boulter pops out to short for out No. 2. Holleran singles to right but Dent lines out to left.
0 runs, 1 hit, 0 errors, 1 left

Top 7th
Alvarez strikes out Montville to begin the seventh – his fourth strikeout in 1.1 innings. Lupo pops to second. Devlin bounces one back to the pitcher for out No. 3.
0 runs, 0 hits, 0 errors, 0 left

Bottom 6th
Navs in dire need of an offensive spark. Their 1, 2, and 3 hitters due up here in the sixth. Saxon singles through the left side to lead things off. Harwick reaches on a fielder’s choice, Saxon out at second 5-4. Jagielo singles through the right side to put a pair on as Pizzano steps to the plate for North Shore. Pizzano gets down in the count 1-2 before working a much-deserved walk. Bases loaded with one out for the Navs here in the sixth. Mach stepping to the plate.

No dice for the Navigators. Mach grounds into 4-6-3 double play on the first pitch he sees from Davis. Inning over.
0 runs, 2 hits, 0 errors, 2 left

Top 6th
Matt Alvarez out of Boston College on for the Navigators in relief of Slania.
Slania’s line: 2 IP, 2 R, 3 H, 5 K, 1 BB
Alvarez strikes out Kronenfeld. It marks the 10th strikeout of the night for Navs pitching through just 5.1 innings, but they have nothing to show for it. Panetta draws a four-pitch walk with one down off the All-Star Alvarez, as does Coppinger. After a three-pitch at-bat that culminated in a strikeout, Alvarez throws eight straight balls to put the No. 8 and No. 9 hitters on via the walk.

He gets Calbi to strike out looking – the 11th K by North Shore pitching on the night but Mollenhauer delivers a back breaker. His two-run double just barely stays fair as it sliced down the left field line. 7-0 Mainers. Alvarez strikes out Leisenheimer swinging to strike out the side.
2 runs, 1 hit, 0 errors, 1 left

Bottom 5th
Boulter grounds out, pitcher to first. Davis then gets Holleran to go down looking. Dent grounds out to second. Davis has retired the last seven he has faced.
0 runs, 0 hits, 0 errors, 0 left

Top 5th
Slania strikes out leadoff hitter Calbi on three pitches before Mollenhauer singles to left, making him 5 for his last 6 dating back to yesterday. Leisenheimer then doubles to the gap in left center to score Mollenhauer from first. 4-0 Mainers. Slania then retires Montville on strikes. All five of his outs have come via the strikeout thus far in his outing. But the next hitter Lupo singles under the dive of the shortstop Dent for another run. 5-0 Mainers. Devlin pops out to Harwick at second for the final out.
2 runs, 3 hits, 0 errors, 1left

Bottom 4th
Pizzano grounds out to second, Mach grounds out to third, and Harrison strikes out swinging to go down 1-2-3 against Davis. The Navs offense has officially gone cold: just six hits in their last 13 innings dating back to the beginning of Game 2.
0 runs, 0 hits, 0 errors, 0 left

Top 4th
Dan Slania of Notre Dame on in relief of Corr.
Corr’s final line: 3 IP, 3 R, 4 H, 4 K, 1 BB.
Slania strikes out the first two batters he faces – Devlin and Kronenfeld – before a two-out walk to Panetta. Slania then gets Coppinger to strike out swinging to strike out the side here in the fourth.
0 runs, 0 hits, 0 errors, 1 left

Bottom 3rd
Cody Dent grounds outs to first for the first out. Lupo was playing shallow in left which allows him to come up with a liner off the bat of Saxon for out No. 2. All-Star second baseman Harwick rolls a single through the left side for North Shore’s first hit of the ballgame, but Jagielo pops out to short to end the inning.
0 runs, 1 hit, 0 errors, 1 left

Top 3rd
Calbi leads off with a single through the left side and then Mollenhauer – who had three hits and three RBI last night – drives him in with a liner double down the right field line. 3-0 Mainers. Leisenheimer flies to right for out No. 1 and it also looks like big righty Dan Slania is beginning to throw in the Navs bullpen. Montville grounds out to second with Mollenhauer moving up to third on the play. Lupo grounds to third to end the inning.
1 run, 2 hits, 0 errors, 1 left

Bottom 2nd
Conner Mach flies to center after a walk to Dario Pizzano, although Pizzano retired on a fielder’s choice by Chase Harrison. Harrison moves up to second on a wild pitch before Matt Boulter walks to put two on with two outs for catcher Pat Holleran. Davis perhaps struggling a bit with his control to left-handed hitters (he’s walked two in the inning). But Holleran grounds one to second on the first pitch he sees.
0 runs, 0 hits, 0 errors, 2 left

Top 2nd
Corr strikes out cleanup hitter Mike Montville swinging. Three swinging strikeouts – all on pitches in the dirt – from Corr so far. Although Jack Lupo gets a hold of one and connects for a deep fly to left that goes for a one-out double. The two-bagger is followed by a walk to Pat Devlin to fill the open bag at first. After a wild pitch, Paul Kronenfeld places one perfectly on a grounder up the middle to score a pair. 2-0 Mainers with one out.

Kronenfeld should have been out at second on a steal attempt on a nice throw by catcher Pat Holleran but the ball squirted away. A groundout to first by Tim Panetta allows Kronenfeld to move up to third with two outs, but Corr gets Ryan Coppinger to swing through
2 runs, 2 hits, 0 errors, 1 left

Bottom 1st
Saulyer Saxon strikes out swinging against Sanford starter Tripp Davis. Clinton Harwick retired by Davis on a first-pitch fly out to right. Eric Jagielo also goes down swinging. Both Corr and Davis strike out two apiece and get an easy fly out in the first. Good beginning for both starters.
0 runs, 0 hits, 0 errors, 0 left

Top 1st
Nolan Corr on the bump for the Navigators in this decisive Game 3. He gets leadoff man Marlon Calbi to strike out swinging before Brett Mollenhauer flies out to center. Also gets No. 3 hitter Justin Leisenheimer to strike out swinging on a pitch in the dirt. Corr spotting the fastball and looking good early on.
0 runs, 0 hits, 0 errors, 0 left

The Game
The No. 2 Navigators (22-20) and the third-seeded Sanford Mainers (20-22) will match up in tonight’s decisive Game 3 of their opening playoff series. After the Navigators dominated in Game 1 on their way to an 8-0 shutout behind starter Crayton Bare (Baylor), Sanford got a complete game shutout last night from Tommy Lawrence in a 6-0 Game 2 victory. Lawrence allowed just five hits while going the distance at Sanford, while no North Shore base runner reached third and only one reached second in the ballgame. Sanford second baseman Brett Mollenhauer had three hits and three RBI in the Mainers’ win, while North Shore starting pitcher Michael Johnson (Dartmouth) allowed four runs on six hits and five walks over five innings to take the loss.

The winner of tonight’s contest will host Game 1 of the Eastern Division Finals tomorrow night as a result of the Laconia Muskrats’ sweep of the top-seeded Newport Gulls.

Starting Pitchers
NS – RHP Nolan Corr (2-2, 5.67)
SAN – LHP Tripp Davis (3-2, 4.26)
Righthander Nolan Corr (Wheaton) gets the start tonight in the do-or-die Game 3 after posting a 2-2 record with a 5.67 ERA during the regular season. He pitched primarily out of the bullpen, as only three of his 16 appearances came in the form of a start. He started his last two outings of the regular season, going 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA. Last season with the Navigators, Corr was a 2010 NECBL All-Star and went 4-0 with a 2.77 ERA in eight games (seven starts).

Meanwhile, lefty Tripp Davis (New Jersey Institute of Technology) will look to send the Mainers to the Eastern Division Finals. Tripp went 3-2 with a 4.26 ERA during the regular season in seven games – all starts. He had a 2.60 ERA entering his final start of the season on July 28 against Danbury, but allowed seven runs on 10 hits in 5.1 innings and saw his earned run average balloon as a result.

The Lineup

After a dominating 8-0 victory for the North Shore Navigators on Wednesday night in Lynn, the Sanford Mainers evened up their best-of-three NECBL playoff series with the North Shore Navigators at a game apiece with a 6-0 shut out of their own on Thursday at Goodall Park.

As a result, both the Mainers and Navigators will go head-to-head on Friday at Fraser Field (6:15 p.m.) for the decisive third game of the series.

Starter Michael Johnson (Dartmouth) was touched for four runs on six hits and five walks over five innings. Johnson did manage to settle down and make it through five, but the lefthander allowed all four of his runs over the course of the first three innings.

Meanwhile, Sanford starter Tommy Lawrence threw a complete game five-hit shutout for Sanford. Lawrence allowed just five hits and no Navigators base runner managed to reach third while only one reached second.

Johnson ran into trouble almost immediately in a 30-pitch first inning. Sanford’s Brett Mollenhauer, who had three hits and three RBI, walked and took second a wild pitch before Mike Montville hit an RBI double down the first base line that was just out of the reach of a diving Eric Williams (Columbia).

Johnson again did not do himself any favors in a 36-pitch second inning, as he walked two more to set up RBI singles by Marlon Calbi and Mollenhauer to make it a 3-0 game. The Mainers got to the lefthander again in the third on an RBI single by Tim Panetta.

Peabody native Joe Gruntkosky (St. Joseph’s) came on in relief of Johnson in the bottom half of the sixth. After a leadoff single to Panetta, a sacrifice bunt attempt was beat out at first before a successful sacrifice put two in scoring position. Mollenhauer then knocked in both runs on a bloop single with the infield in to extend the lead to 6-0.

If we can take any good news from Thursday, the rival Newport Gulls lost 8-7 in walk-off fashion to the Laconia Muskrats on Thursday. The No. 4 seed upset the top-seeded Gulls to cement its spot the Eastern Division Finals, which will begin on Saturday. As a result, Games 1 and 3 (if necessary) of that series will be hosted by the winner of Friday’s do-or-die Sanford-North Shore game at Fraser.

Top 9th
Lawrence still on for Sanford. He is at 106 pitches entering the ninth. Mach singles in the ninth but nothing more. Game over. The decisive Game 3 will take place on Friday night at Fraser Field in Lynn. First pitch slated for 6;15 p.m.
0 runs, 1 hit, 0 errors, 1 left

Bottom 8th
Danvers native Bobby Dean on for in relief of Grant. Dean gets a pair of ground outs to first before punching out Leisenheimer to strand a run at third.
0 runs, 0 hits, 0 errors, 1 left

Top 8th
Lawrence still in the ballgame for Sanford. Saxon singles with two outs but Harwick retired on a fly out to left for the final out.
0 runs, 1 hit, 0 errors, 1 left

Bottom 7th
Easton native Ryan Grant on to pitch in relief of Gruntkosky for the Navigators. Lupo singled and stole second to lead off the inning before Grant got Devlin and Kronenfeld both to strike out. Mach’s throw to first after a grounder off the mark but Williams comes off the bag and applies the tag for the third out.
0 runs, 1 hit, 0 errors, 1 left

Top 7th
Again things are going against the Navs. Mach retired on a great play by the shortstop Calbi in the hole before Williams smokes one right at the second baseman Mollenhauer. Harrison then also grounds out to short.
0 runs, 0 hits, 0 errors, 0 left

Bottom 6th
Peabody native Joe Gruntkosky comes on in relief of Johnson for North Shore. After a leadoff single to Panetta, a sacrifice bunt attempt was beat out at first before a successful sacrifice put two in scoring position. Mollenhauer then knocked in both runs on a bloop single with the infield in to extend the lead to 6-0. Gruntkosky got Leisenheimer to strike out swinging before Montville flied to right.
2 runs, 3 hits, 0 errors, 1 left

Top 6th
Harwick lines a leadoff single into right field against Lawrence. It marks just the third hit of the ballgame for the Navs. However, Jagielo’s gapper to left center is caught on the dive by the left fielder Lupo. Harwick couldn’t tell if the ball had been caught and was easily doubled off at first. That’s the way this one has gone for the Navigators. Pizzano then grounds out to end the frame.
0 runs, 1 hit, 0 errors, 0 left

Bottom 5th
Great play by Dent at short on the in-between hop for the first out of the inning. Harwick then handles two easy grounders for the second and third outs. It was the first 1-2-3 inning for Johnson on the night, although he has thrown 113 pitches through five. His outing is in all likelihood done. If that is the case, his line will read: 5 IP, 4 R, 4 ER, 6 H, 3 K.
0 runs, 0 hits, 0 errors, 0 left

Top 5th
Navs go down 1-2-3 again the fifth. Lawrence has been stellar through five for the Mainers, allowing just four base runners on two hits and a pair of walks.
0 runs, 0 hits, 0 errors, 0 left

Bottom 4th
After a fly out to begin the inning, Mollenhauer gets his second single of the ballgame. He then moves to second on a wild pitch before tagging up and moving to third on a fly out to right. However, Johnson gets Montville to strike out swinging to strand Mollenhauer, marking the first inning the Mainers were unable to score.
0 runs, 1 hit, 0 errors, 1 left

Top 4th
Pizzano flies out to center after an eight-pitch at-bat. Mach grounds to third. Williams works a full count walk but Harrison strikes out swinging.
0 runs, 0 hits, 0 errors, 1 left

Bottom 3rd
Montville moves to second on a sac bunt after a leadoff single off of Johnson, then moves to third on a groundout. Kronenfeld drew a walk – Johnson’s fifth – before Panetta’s RBI single makes it 4-0.
1 run, 2 hits, 0 errors, 2 left

Top 3rd
A leadoff infield single for Matt McGovern marked his third hit in two playoff games. He then moved to second on a wild pitch with one out before Saxon then filled the void at first with a walk. But Lawrence got Harwick to strike out swinging before Jagielo hit one right on the screws, but it was right at the centerfielder Coppinger.
0 runs, 1 hit, 0 errors, 2 left

Bottom 2nd
Johnson’s third walk of the game is a leadoff base on balls to Pat Devlin, but Paul Kronenfeld’s was retired when his bunt attempt was popped up into foul territory for third baseman Conner Mach, who made a nice sliding play for the out. Tim Panetta then hits into a 3-6 fielder’s choice before Ryan Coppinger walked – Johnson’s fourth in just two innings of work – to put two men on. Calbi then lined a singled to left to score Devlin for a 2-0 lead with Panetta moving up to third. A single from Mollenhauer then made it 3-0. Johnson’s line not pretty through two innings: 2 IP, 3 R, 3 H, 4 BB, 2 K on 66 pitches.
2 runs, 2 hits, 0 errors, 2 left

Top 2nd
Navs go down 1-2-3 in the second on just eight pitches from Lawrence.
0 runs, 0 hits, 0 errors, 0 left

Bottom 1st
After a leadoff walk to Marlon Calbi, starter Michael Johnson picked him off for the 1-3-6-3-4 putout at second. Brett Mollenhauer worked the second straight walk issued by Johnson to begin the game and then moved up to second on a wild pitch. Johnson got Justin Leisenheimer to strike out swinging for out No. 2, but Mike Montville hit a grounder down the first base line that was just out of the reach of a diving Eric Williams for an RBI double. Jack Lupo flied to left to end the inning but it was a tough go of it for Johnson, who walked a pair and was forced to throw 30 pitches in the first.
1 run, 1 hit, 0 errors, 1 left

Top 1st
Saulyer Saxon fouled out to left and Clinton Harwick grounded to short before Eric Jagielo reached on an infield single. But Sanford starter Tommy Lawrence got Dario Pizzano to ground to second
0 runs, 1 hit, 0 errors, 1 left

The Game
The No. 2 Navigators (22-20) will look to close out this best-of-three series tonight on the road against the third-seeded Sanford Mainers (20-22). The Navigators took Game 1 last night in Lynn 8-0, as starter Crayton Bare (Baylor) allowed just four hits over seven scoreless innings in the shutout. Sanford had one base runner reach third base in the first inning, but nobody else advanced past second in the ballgame. Matt McGovern (Boston College) and Clinton Harwick (Point Loma Nazarene) had two hits apiece at the top of the lineup, while Harwick also set a Navigators playoff record by stealing four bases in the victory. Dario Pizzano (Columbia) had three RBI on a two-run double in the fourth and a sac fly in the second.

Starting Pitchers
NS – LHP Michael Johnson (4-4, 2.80)
SAN – RHP Tommy Lawrence (1-2, 1.48)
Lefthander Michael Johnson (Dartmouth) gets the ball in Game 2 tonight at Sanford for the Navigators. Johnson led the entire NECBL with nine starts this season and had 28 strikeouts in 45 innings pitched. Overall he went 4-4 with a 2.80 ERA and had his ups and downs throughout the regular season. After taking the loss in four consecutive starts with a 4.95 ERA from June 21 to July 11, Johnson went 3-0 over his final three starts with a 1.20 ERA. Seven of his nine starts came on the road this season, with two of those starts coming in early June at Sanford. He went 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA in those two contests.

Righty Tommy Lawrence will look to send the series back to Lynn tomorrow night for the Mainers. Lawrence, a junior out of Winthrop University, posted a 1.48 ERA in nine games (seven starts) in the regular season but only had a 1-2 record to show for it. His 1.48 mark was good for fifth in the league and he also had 28 strikeouts in 42.2 innings pitched. Lawrence was dominant in his only start against North Shore this season, allowing just an unearned run in six innings back on July 9. However, the Navigators then proceeded to score seven runs against the two relievers who followed Lawrence’s performance in an 8-7 victory at Sanford.

Starting pitcher Crayton Bare (Baylor) threw seven scoreless innings to lead the Navigators to an 8-0 shutout over the Sanford Mainers in Game 1 of the NECBL Eastern Division semifinals on Wednesday at Fraser Field. With the victory, North Shore now has a chance to close out the three-game series on Thursday at Sanford.

Bare allowed just four hits to stifle the Sanford bats all night long and also had four strikeouts. To boot, the performance came exactly one year and a day removed from the night Bare threw a complete-game five-hitter against the same Sanford team last summer in Game 1 of the opening playoff series en route to the 2010 championship.Bare needed just 89 pitches to get through seven innings.

His offense also gave him plenty of support, especially at the top of the lineup. North Shore’s 1-2 hitters – Matt McGovern (Boston College) and Clinton Harwick (Point Loma Nazarene) – both had two hits apiece and combined to go 4-for-7 with two runs scored and three RBI. Harwick also set a Navigators playoff record with four stolen bases in the win. Harwick had stole five bags in the entire regular season.

After McGovern scored the game’s first run on a sac fly in the first, he again came home in the second on another sac fly before Harwick singled in another to go on top 3-0. Saugus native Dario Pizzano (Columbia) just narrowly missed a homer in the fourth, as his two-run double extended the lead to 5-0.

In the sixth, McGovern doubled and scored on another Harwick single, and Harwick then proceeded to steal second and third to set up a sac fly by Eric Jagielo (Notre Dame). An easy Pizzano ground ball should have ended the inning, but an error by Sanford second baseman Eric Hailer allowed him to reach and he later scored on another Mainers’ error.

Much of the damage came against Sanford’s All-Star starter A.J. Bazdanes, who allowed five runs on six hits in just 4.1 innings. The Nashua, N.H. native from the University of Maine also walked five and struck out three.

For North Shore, Dan Duval (RPI) struck out two in the eighth before Brad Schnitzer (Butler) threw a perfect ninth inning to nail down the win.

Lefthander Brad Schnitzer out of Butler on for the Navigators to try and close it out in the ninth.
Schnitzer induces two pop ups – both to second baseman Harwick before a strikeout for a perfect ninth inning. Game over.
0 runs, 0 hits, 0 errors, 0 left

Bottom 8th
After Jagielo fouled out, Pizzano ripped another to deep left but it was caught on the warning track by Jack Lupo. Mach then grounded out to second.
0 runs, 0 hits, 0 errors, 0 left

Top 8th
North Shore reliever Dan Duval comes on to replace Bare after a sensational outing. Bare’s line: 7 IP, 0 R, 4 H, 4 K, 3 BB.
Leisenheimer rolled a single through the left side with two outs, but Duval got Montville to strike out swinging to end the inning.
0 runs, 1 hit, 0 errors, 1 left

Bottom 7th
Brendan Hourihan out of Cortland State replaces Reich, who allowed three runs – two earned – on three hits over 1.2 innings. Hourihan allowed a base hit to McGovern but that was all.
0 runs, 1 hit, 0 errors, 1 left

Top 7th
Devlin scorches a hard-hit ball at Dent at short that ricocheted off the shortstop into short left for a single. But Bare induced a 4-6-3 double play to the next hitter. Panetta than drew his second walk of the ballgame but was retired on a fielder’s choice.
0 runs, 1 hit, 0 errors, 1 left

Bottom 6th
Dent retired on a nice sliding play by Montville in right field to lead off the frame, but McGovern laced a double down the right field line against Reich with one down. Harwick then singled home McGovern on the first pitch he saw from Reich. Harwick then swiped both second and third – his third and fourth stolen bases of the game – with Jagielo at the plate, who then hit a sac fly to center to score Harwick. Pizzano then reached on an error by the second baseman Hailler and Mach was hit by a pitch. Boulter then hit up the middle that shortstop Marlon Calbi made a terrific play on, but his errant throw got by first, allowing Pizzano to score and Mach and Boulter to move up into scoring position.
3 runs, 3 hits, 2 errors, 2 left

Top 6th
Justin Leisenheimer and Montville hit back-to-back singles with two outs for Sanford’s second and third hits of the ballgame, but Bare gets Eric Hailler to ground into a fielder’s choice at third to retire the side.
0 runs, 2 hits, 0 errors, 2 left

Bottom 5th
After a Boulter flyout, Chase Harrison singled to center. That is going to mark the end of Bazdanes’ outing after 4.1 innings. He will make way to Jonathan Reiche out of Fordham. Reiche quickly got a 6-3 double play to get out of the inning.
0 runs, 1 hit, 0 errors, 0 left

Top 5th
After Devlin grounded out to short for Dent’s sixth assist defensively of the ballgame, Bare punched out Nick LaCroix looking on a wicked hook. Tim Panetta broke a string of ten straight hitters retired by Bare with a walk, but Bare caught the next hitter looking – his fourth strikeout – as well to retire the side.
0 runs, 0 hits, 0 errors, 1 left

Bottom 4th
Harwick was hit by a pitch by Bazdanes with two outs, who promptly stole his second base of the ballgame to get into scoring position before Jagielo was walked. Pizzano then absolutely crushed a ball to deep right center for a two-run double to make it 5-0. He missed a home run by no more than three feet. It’s been a tough go of it for Bazdanes, who set down the first two with ease.
2 runs, 1 hit, 0 errors, 1 left

Top 4th
Bare retires the side on 10 pitches. The lefty from Baylor has now set down eight straight.
0 runs, 0 hits, 0 errors, 0 left

Bottom 3rd
Pizzano flied out to left on the first pitch from Bazdanes, but Mach placed a ball perfectly down the line in right before sliding headfirst into second for the double. Boulter drew his second walk in as many innings to fill the vacancy at first base. Harrison then gave one a ride to the gap in right center but Montville tracked it down for the second out. Saxon then flew out to left to end inning, stranding a pair.
0 runs, 1 hit, 0 errors, 2 left

Top 3rd
Bare retires the side on just eight pitches. A flyout to Pizzano sandwiched between two groundouts to the always-steady Dent at short.
0 runs, 0 hits, 0 errors, 0 left

Bottom 2nd
Matt Boulter led off the inning with a walk before Chase Harrison worked a walk of his own on a 3-2 count. Bazdanes got ahead 0-2 to Saulyer Saxon, but Saxon fisted a jamshot into short left to load the bases. Dent was then retired via the strikeout for the first out, but McGovern’s sac fly scored Boulter to make it 2-0. Harwick followed with a single to score Harrison, with Saxon taking third on the throw to the plate. Harwick stole second base to put two in scoring position, but Bazdanes got Jagielo to strike out swinging to escape further damage.
2 runs, 2 hits, 0 errors, 2 left

Top 2nd
Bare allowed a one-out walk to Pat Devlinbut got a strikeout and an easy groundout to short to strand him.
0 runs, 1 hit, 0 errors, 1 left

Bottom 1st
Matt McGovern led off with a single before right fielder Montville made a diving catch on a flare by Clinton Harwick. Eric Jagielo then hit a ground rule double down the right field line to put men on second and third for Dario Pizzano. Pizzano then hit a deep sac fly to center to plate McGovern with Jagielo moving up to third. Sanford starter AJ Bazdanes then struck out Conner Mach swinging to end the inning, but he got hit around overall in the inning.
1 run, 1 hit, 0 errors, 1 left

Top 1st
Starting pitcher Crayton Bare struck out leadoff man Marlon Calbi on three pitches. Jack Lupo then singled to center, took second on a passed ball by Navs catcher Chase Harrison before taking third on a ground out. With two outs, Mike Montville hit a slow roller in the hole at short, but Cody Dent handled it cleanly and got Montville by a half step at first to keep Sanford off the board.
0 runs, 1 hit, 0 errors, 1 left
